There is a ribbon scroll along the bottom of the scenic panel reads erinneurng an meine dienstzeit (in memory of my service time). There is a service roster on each side of the handle of the soldiers who served with reservist ullrich, soem are slightly worn but readable. There is an ornate bust of a soldier on the handle, as you can see in the photographs. The inscription around the top set against a butterscotch glaze in black lettering reads es lebe hoch das regiment das sich mit stolz das erste nennt (long live the regiment that proudly calls itself the first). Across the top of the painted scene there is a small town with rolling fields and advancing troops, in the blue sky of the morning it reads noch einmal muessen stramm wir ueben, dann aufs panzerfeld hinaus (once more we have to train and tehn we go to face the tanks in the field). There are six separate scenes around the middle each elaborately painted in great detail from advancing troops, to leaving a love behind. The banners in the middle each reado wie wohl ist dem zu mut de rim letzten ibrvak ruht. Leib gren. Regt.
Nr. 109. Karlsruhe. 1911-13 the finial on the pewter lid represents a soldier sitting with a rifel on his lap and a beer stein in his right hand. There is a very ornate repoussé design on the pewter lid and it is written hoch lbee der reservemann.
There is an ornate thumblift of an eagle with his wings spread, a german star and the tail end of a 'lion'. There are three words written under the eagle, but i can only make out the last word teliano.
The base is deeply recessed with a wonderful lithophane of a man and a woman in the bottom, as you can see in the photographs. This magnificent hand painted tall stein measures 8 to the lip and 12 to the top of the finial while the base is 4 ˝ in diameter and in excellent antique condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. This is an extremely old, one of a kind, regimental stein ofr any collector.
